at the moment

I am a wife, mommy and work full time.  My son turned a year old on 7/28.  I have been married for 4 years.  I have a boston terrier named Lauren Katie.  I miss my Shawn (minpin).  He was put to sleep on 8/31/09 because of the progression of his lymphoma.

I am currently still practicing the juggling act.  Some days are GREAT and others are a struggle to get through.  But I wouldn't have it any other way.  I help support our family with income and health benefits while keeping my career.  Our son loves his daycare, teachers and all the fun things he gets to do during the day.  I am always looking for new ways to save time on tasks so that I have more time with my husband and son.  It is a work in progress and getting easier every day!

A typical day for me is to be up between 4:30-5:00 am and leave the house by 6:30 with lunch, both Nicholas and I dressed, daycare belongings, my belongings and keys to my car.  I usually leave daycare around 7 and am off to the 295 commute up to Trenton.  Get to work a little before 8 and then start my work day.  Meanwhile, I am sure I have done more between 4:30am-8:00 than most people do all day.  Work until 4 and then start the commute home.  Eric usually picks up Nick which is a great help because then I would have to sit in Cherry Hill traffic to get him and get home around 5:30.  Eric helps a ton and does more than I know most men would.  But if he didn't help, I don't think I would be able to keep up with this.  I am so grateful for him!
Evenings look like this- dinner between 5:30 and 7.  Playtime with Nick and dinner clean up.  Bath on bath nights and then sippy with milk.  Put Nick to bed and then clean up the toys and get ready for daycare the next day.  I absolutely LOVE Fridays!!!  I can totally relax after Nick goes to bed and not have to worry about the next day.

I have been trying to keep up with a workout schedule.  Some weeks are better than others.  I have come to accept that I can not work out like I used to when I had all the free time in the world.

I am back on the overtime schedule at work and that just throws me for a loop and makes me even more tired than I already am.

We are finished remodeling our master bathroom and are thinking about doing our laundry room and sheds in our backyard.  A lot to plan!

I am inbetween endocrinologist visits.  I am trying to find an awesome doctor.  One that actually wants to practice and do their job and not just get a paycheck and hospital name.  I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease fall 2008.  I have a goiter and several nodules/lymph nodes enlarged.  And in spring of 2010, was told that I have Grave's disease too but since I would then have both disease, I am currently in Hashimoto's phase and can cycle back and forth.  Basically these are both autoimmune disease which one can be genetically predisposed for.  My mom and women in her family have Hashimoto's and my father has Graves.  Hashimoto's disease causes hypothyroidism and Graves causes hyperthyroidism.  The problem with me is that it can be hard to treat when your hormones are not cooperating and they shift rapidly between going hyper and hypo.  Currently though, it has been 6 months on the same dosage and I have been feeling pretty good and just have a few symptoms.  I try to avoid constant high stress situations, processed food, alcohol, synthetic hormones (besides what I am on- synthroid), and I try to get 7 or more hours of sleep, excersize, lots of water, and time to relax.  It is really hard to find time just for me and to relax with working and taking care of a toddler.  But I just take it one day at a time and make decisions on how I feel.  It is working because I have been feeling good!
