All I can hear is the wind...

I woke up at 5am this Saturday morning.  I was so exhausted Friday night that I passed out before 9pm, I think but I can't remember.  I even slept through Eric playing Black Ops and for me, a light sleeper, is strange.  But I'll take nights like these, even if it is a Friday night!  It is peaceful and nice to be awake so early and enjoy my coffee before the guys get up and our day begins.  I love getting to do a couple things that I need or want to do and it is quiet.
This week, Nicholas had his second RSV infection which came along with an ear infection.

He last had RSV December 2009.  This case was real bad, we almost took him to the hospital.  It seemed immediately that he could barely breathe.  Advocare quickly got us in and started Nicholas on a nebulizer, which helped trememdously.  We ended up not taking him to the hospital because the doctor said the hospital will only do what we will do at home.  We gave him lots of fluids and did nebulizer treatments every 4 hours.  He got better then it got bad again with a 104 fever and a ton of mucos/coughing.  Now it was bronchiolitis so the doctor said.  It is common for RSV to come with an ear infection or turn into pneumonia or a bronchiol infection.

This current RSV infection is not so bad but maybe it is because we caught it early.  We took him to the doctor for what we thought was an ear infection and the doctor heard wheezing.  So once again we have to do nebulizer treatments.  He also has an ear infection even though he has the ear tubes.  I am so happy this time around that it seems like a more mild case.  However, I still worry for the future because our pediatrician and everything I read about RSV, said that children who get RSV may be more likely to develop asthma later on in life.  I think it is probably the case for children who have this as a reoccuring issue but that is not Nick's case.  We will still keep a watch on him and if we ever see asthma symptoms, to not overlook it.

Even though he has been sick this week, had a fever, coughing and wheezing, Nicholas still was able to tear apart every room in the house.  Maybe that is why I am exhausted.  On the days I stayed home with him, I was more exhausted then on the days I went to work.

This kid has tons of energy.  When he went back to school on Friday, he entered his class by running circles in the middle of the classroom!  He took a bus and then the super sized rubber ducky off the toy shelf and brough them with him over to break fast.  He quacked at the duck.  I tried to hug him good bye and give him a kiss but he didn't want anything to do with me...pushed me away infact.  He was busy talking to Lexi and quacking to his ducky.  So, things are back to normal and I hope there is no more sicknesses entering this household for some time!
